taiji dolphin drive
in the town of Taiji, Japan, a dolphin drive takes place annually from September to March. during these drives, dolphins and other cetaceans are driven toward the land into small bays, where they are caught and killed. footage of these hunts show waters turned blood red due to the dolphins being killed cruelly with knives and spears. the inhumane slaughtering is depicted in this piece through melted candy illustrating the crimson red colour of the water, and chopsticks suggesting that the dolphins are being hunted in pursuit of their meat.
