// ethnographic research
as an aspiring user researcher, i wanted to practice listening to, empathizing with, and sharing others’ stories;
I spent two years working as an ethnographic research assistant for Professor Yuh, a founding faculty member and former director of the Asian American Studies Programme at Northwestern University.
My role was to locate and interview Korean immigrants in the Chicago area and transcribe and translate the interviews. I then composed narrator profiles and creative non-fiction stories based on the findings.
this opportunity allowed me to grow my skills in ethnographic research, especially talking to users, determining their specific pain points, and empathizing with their needs. i hope to apply these learnings to my work as a designer, and take a human-centred approach to what i do
